How to Use Private Space to Hide Apps on Android

Why do we need Private Space on Android?

Sometimes we have apps on our phone that we don't want others to see, like banking apps, dating apps, or personal photos. If you often share your phone with family or friends, it becomes hard to keep these apps private. So Android gives a built-in Private Space feature which creates a separate locked section on your phone to hide and organize sensitive apps.

Follow the steps below to use Private Space on your Android phone:

1. Open Settings on your Android phone.

2. Then go to Security & Privacy.

3. Here you will find an option called Private Space. Tap on it.

4. Tap Set Up to begin.

5. Authenticate using your device screen lock.

6. Optional: Sign in with a separate Google Account to keep your private data completely isolated from your main account.

7. Now choose a lock for your Private Space. You can use your existing device lock, or tap Choose New Lock to set a different PIN, pattern, or password.

8. Once set up, open your App Drawer and swipe all the way to the bottom. You will see the Private section there.

9. Tap on it and unlock it to add apps. Just tap Install App or move existing apps into this space.

10. To hide it, simply lock the Private Space. It will vanish from your app drawer, and no notifications from these apps will show up until you unlock it again.

Note: Private Space is only available on Android 15 and above, so make sure your phone is updated before trying this feature. If your phone doesn't support it, you can also try third-party apps like Secure Folder or App Lock from the Play Store.
